Insurance is the wrong word

You can't be insured against life:  buying a life insurance policy does not prevent your life from being extinguished.

This poor choice of words is the deceptive tactics of the insurance industry to make their services seem more valuable than they are.  There is no real value here.  They make everyone pay and only a few lucky people when disaster happens.  And every year, the bad business decisions make less and less clients able to take advantage of years of money paid into the program.

The better word for insurance is assurance.  This is the word they use in europe.  Assurance means that if something nasty happens like you lose your arm in a thrashing machine, the the assurance company will do their best to make things better.  They can't stop you from dying, but they will do the best for your loved ones and your estate.  That is not as deceiving as the misleading insurance word.  But it is a commitment that should be more helpful.

I don't trust any insurance companies, and now you know why.
